| James Pethel | | James Pethel was the Distinguished Composer-in-Residence and Associate Professor of Music at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee for 37 years where he taught organ, piano, composition and theory. A graduate of Carson-Newman, he completed his Master's degree and did his doctoral studies in music theory and composition at George Peabody College in Nashville. He has over 300 publications in print by numerous publishers and has been the recipient of many recognitions and awards, including the Carson-Newman Outstanding Alumni Award. In addition to his work as a free-lance composer, Pethel enjoys photography, swimming, hiking and sharing moments with his first grandchild! He and his wife, Martha, are the parents of two grown children. | | |
